This past year, I had gained a lot of weight in a short period of time, and just couldn’t shake it. My blood pressure and cholesterol were too high and my doctor wanted me to go on medication. My legs and ankles were swelling, I was dealing with fatigue in the afternoons and insomnia at night, and I had body odor for the first time in my life. Within a week of following Marissa’s recommendations, I began to feel significantly better in my body. A few months later, I went back to the doctor to retest. My cholesterol and blood pressure were back to normal. My energy is better, I’m able to fall asleep, and I no longer rely on coffee to get through the afternoons. This has been such a great experience that I’ve committed to implementing Ayurvedic practices in my daily life indefinitely. I couldn’t recommend Marissa more!

Regardless of how I honored my cravings I could feel my 40 year old body needed some nutrition it wasn’t getting. I was so damn tired and my hormones felt out of control. My sudden body changes began 6 months after the pandemic started. I am a single mom working two jobs. Busy to say the least, not feeling well, and struggling to get through the day. When I started working with Marissa, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make changes in my routine. Marissa really cares about her clients. She would check on me and follow up to see if there was a need to reassess the plan and if we needed to make any changes. Her approach is holistic, caring, and proactive. When I fell off the wagon, she was empathetic and gave me the tools to get back on it. She has been coaching me to be kinder to myself. That made a huge difference in how I approached my treatment.

Since working with Marissa, I have been mindful of not just what I'm eating, but how I'm eating it. Her specific insights about food mixing, as well as the attention paid to my meals has impacted how I eat and when I eat. I feel like that has had a positive impact on my digestion, and also generally my relationship with food. I look forward to eating, rather than treating it as a chore, or purely as an indulgence. When my digestion is better, my bowel movements are better. The older I get, the more I pay attention to BMs! If you're reading this, that's probably not TMI for you, A little attention (and a lot of greens) go a long way. She also has a lot of information about inflammation and inflammatory/anti-inflammatory foods which was great context for me, someone with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Inflammation is my enemy (like many others) and thinking about ways to key into my nutrition has definitely helped manage my conditions. My skin is clearer now than it has been in years, and my arthritis hasn't been worsening, which is a win for any chronic condition.
